Why row!?

Learning to row is about learning teamwork, unity, discipline, will power and concentration. Rowing also helps to hone focus, build fitness and row past personal boundaries!

Glebe is an all inclusive Club that welcomes members from all walks of life. New rowers are invited to have three (3) rows at the Club, before they must complete a Member Application to apply for Club membership.

A fee of $10 per row is payable for the first three rows. Following application for membership and until acceptance of your application, a fee of $10 per row will continue to be payable by prospective members.

Junior members (those under 18 years of age at time of applying) are to pay $5 per row.

As a new member, you will be introduced to the Club Captain for assessment of your rowing abilities before being able to row. Additionally, all new rowers must agree to the Terms and Conditions of the Club as outlined in the Membership Application.

Member Applications

Printed Member application forms are available from Glebe Rowing Club. Additionally, you may request an emailed version of the application form by emailing the Treasurer or you can download a PDF version of the form from here. See the last page for a membership form.

All application forms are to be forwarded to the Club Secretary, with applications received each month being nominated and assessed at the monthly Committee Meeting.

In order to be considered for membership, applications are to be accompanied by full fee payment including the joining fee and one year’s full fees (payment to be made by direct deposit, cheque or postal order) which is refunded if the application is not accepted.

Application forms must include nominations by two existing Club Members and all nominees for Membership will be written up on the Club’s noticeboard for Members’ review and feedback.

Membership approval is dependent on each applicant’s trial period and demonstrated commitment to contribute to the Club. As a new Member, it is important that you take the initiative to introduce yourself to the Club Captain and any Club Members you may meet.

Membership Fees

Club Membership Fees are due at the time of joining and subsequently on the 1st of July each year. It is the responsibility of each Club Member to ensure their fees are fully paid up at the beginning of each financial year.

Members who have not paid their fees at the start of the financial year will not be covered by Club insurances and therefore will be unable to row until such time as they are financial. Non payment of fees is considered to be in breach of the Club’s philosophy. However, if any Member is experiencing general financial hardship we ask that you speak to the Treasurer to make suitable arrangements.

Membership Questions

All Membership questions should be directed to the Club Captain .
